Following a busy seven weeks of performances with Philharmonie Zuidnederland, Sinfonica de Galicia and Sinfonica di Milano, Andrew Litton concludes his European tour in Munich with the Bayerisches Staatsballett. Performing as part of the 2025 Ballet Festival at the Nationaltheater, Andrew leads the company in ‘Wings of Memory’. Opening tonight (10th April), the six-performance series closes on the 16th April.

Featuring Pina Bausch’s iconic choreography of Stravinsky’s Le Sacre du Printemps, as well as Faun by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, the programme includes music by Debussy and Nitin Sawhney as well as Jiří Kylián’s Bella Figura.

Speaking to BR-KLASSIK ahead of opening night, Litton shared:
“This Pina Bausch choreography is so exciting and brings out the energy and brutality of the piece so perfectly. I’m delighted to be involved in this production.”

He also reflected on the challenges of conducting for ballet:
“In concert you follow the sound. In ballet, you follow the stage… It’s a completely different world.”
‘Wings of Memory’ runs from 10 April until 16 April at the Nationaltheater in Munich.
