Tess Jackson takes to the podium of the English National Opera
Tess Jackson takes to the podium of the English National Opera today, conducting a star-studded cast including Mary Bevan (Susanna), David Ireland (Figaro) and Neal Davis (Dr Bartolo), pulling out the light and shade in Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro. This performance, a revival of Joe Hill-Gibbins’ 2020 production of the composer’s foremost comic opera, marks Jackson’s house debut.
Earlier this season, Jackson received much acclaim for her return to Volksoper Vienna, where she was Musical Assistant in the 2023/24 season, for Bernstein’s West Side Story, directed by Lotte de Beer.
She can next be seen conducting the City of London Sinfonia at Queen Elizabeth Hall in early March in collaboration with the London Review of Books which juxtaposes dazzling works of music and literature created at the end of great careers.
