This afternoon, cellist Laura van der Heijden makes her debut at the Cello Biënnale Amsterdam. Taking to the stage of the main hall with pianist Jâms Coleman together they perform Kodály’s Sonatina and Janáček’s insistent Violin Sonata, transcribed for the cello by Laura herself. Both works feature on ‘Pohádka – Tales from Prague to Budapest’ with Jâms Coleman, Laura’s debut album on the Chandos label released in February 2022. “The players clearly share a tangible musical understanding and rapport.” (Gramophone)

In December, Laura appears in recital with Jâms at the Wigmore Hall and later this season looks forward to concerto appearances with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales and the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra for Martinů’s Cello Concerto No. 1 and Elgar’s Cello Concerto respectively.
