On the 28 September Tito Muñoz will conduct the world premiere performance of Michael Hersch’s new opera ‘And We, each’.  Hersch’s new two-act opera, composed around the texts of American poet Shane McCrae, is produced by the Baltimore-based organisation Mind on Fire. The opening performances will take place at the Baltimore Theatre Project on the 28 and 29 September 2024, with further performances at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg Center in Washington, DC on 13 October and at the National Sawdust in Brooklyn, NY on 6 February.

A great advocate of the music of Michael Hersch, Tito has led the world premieres of many of Hersch’s recent works, including ‘On the Threshold of Winter’ at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in 2014, his Violin Concerto with Patricia Kopatchinskaja and the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra in 2015 (also recorded with the International Contemporary Ensemble on the New Focus label), ‘I hope we get a chance to visit soon’ at the Ojai and Aldeburgh Festivals and ‘The Script of Storms’ with the BBC Symphony Orchestra in London.

Hersch’s latest opera ‘And We, each’, is described by Mind on Fire as ‘an exploration of the treacherous territories of relationships – between individuals, within societies and, ultimately, the collapse of both’. The production is directed by James Matthew Daniel and features soprano Ah Young Hong and baritone Jesse Blumberg.
