Karen Ní Bhroin had a busy summer in Bregenz, where she played a pivotal role in the success of two world premieres at the Bregenz Festival 2024. She conducted “Hold Your Breath,” a collaborative music theatre project on the Werkstattbühne. For this ambitious production she joined composer Ena Brennan, director and librettist David Pountney, and visual artist Hugo Canoilas, with choreographer Caroline Finn. Reflecting on the experience, Karen shared that she was “Incredibly proud of what we produced this summer.”

In addition to “Hold Your Breath,” Karen also conducted the premiere of Marcus Nigsch’s “Map of a Crime,” which was met with great acclaim. The praise for her conducting was highlighted in Kulturzeitschrift, which noted, “The threads converged with the very accomplished conductor Karen Ní Bhroin.” The performance was deemed “a complete success”.
