Karl-Heinz Steffens and Benjamin Grosvenor on European Tour with Norrköping Symphony Orchestra
Between the 16th and 22nd August the Norrköping Symphony Orchestra will embark on their first international tour since 2018 with performances in Sweden, the Netherlands and Germany. NSO’s Principal Conductor and Artistic Advisor Karl-Heinz Steffens will lead the tour with fellow JBM artist Benjamin Grosvenor joining as soloist for performances in Norrköping and Amsterdam of Grieg’s Piano Concerto.
The tour opens at De Geerhallen, Norrköping, the orchestra’s home, (16 August) before moving on to the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam (18 August). The tour culminates at the Friedberger Musiksommer in southern Germany (21 & 22 August), a festival with which Karl-Heinz Steffens has worked for 20 years.
The programme features music by Grieg (Peer Gynt Suite No.1 and the Piano Concerto), Beethoven (Symphony No. 3 and the Triple Concerto), Mozart (the Clarinet Concerto) and Bruckner (Symphony No. 9). In addition to Benjamin Grosvenor, soloists include violinist, Roi Shiloah, cellist, Zvi Plesser, pianist, Michal Friedländer and in Mozart’s clarinet concerto, Karl-Heinz Steffens will perform as both soloist and director.
