Tomorrow evening, British conductor Tess Jackson takes to the podium of the Royal Albert Hall for her BBC Proms conducting debut. Jackson conducts the National Youth Orchestra — of which she is Associate Conductor — in the world premiere of rising young composer Dani Howard’s ‘Three, Four AND…’, written in celebration of the NYO ‘Inspire’ scheme, which supports equity and opportunity in teenage music education. Herself an advocate and inspiration for young musicians, Jackson has previously led creative workshops with Howard, who as Resident Artist enjoys ongoing collaborations with the orchestra. This evening’s appearance follows two other recent notable conducting debuts for Jackson at the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall and Royal Festival Hall with the NYO in Gavin Higgins’ Concerto Grosso for Orchestra and Brass Band.

You can hear Tess chatting to Tom Service about her BBC Proms debut live on his BBC Radio 3 ‘Saturday Morning’ show on 10 August.

The concert will be broadcast live on BBC Radio 3 (https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m0021r1f) and available on BBC Four and BBC iPlayer later this season.
