Maestro Mazzola’s opening night at the Bregenz Festival
This evening Maestro Mazzola takes to the podium for the opening night of Weber’s Der Freischütz at the Bregenz Festival, where he is Conductor in Residence. Appearing on the spectacular Bregenz stage with direction and set design by Philipp Stölzl, this most popular opera amongst the German-speaking world tells the tale of a young hunter’s deal with the devil to win the hand of his love in a shooting trial. Also during the festival and with the Wiener Symphoniker, Mazzola conducts an orchestral concert including Stravinsky’s The Firebird, and from Weber’s symphonic works, the Clarinet Concerto No. 1. with clarinettist Sabine Meyer.
In the 2024/25 season, Mazzola looks forward to returning to his Lyric Opera of Chicago for productions of Rigoletto and Fidelio and ends 2024 conducting Verdi’s Macbeth at the Deutsche Oper, Berlin.
