Karl-Heinz Steffens makes Southern Hemisphere debut with Auckland Philharmonia
Following on from last week’s great news of his contract extension as Principal Conductor and Artistic Advisor with the Norrköping Symphony Orchestra, German Conductor Karl-Heinz Steffens will now make his Southern Hemisphere debut with the Auckland Philharmonia.
Following an invitation to step in at short notice, Steffens will now lead the Auckland Philharmonia in their performance next Thursday 2nd of May at Auckland Town Hall. The programme will include J.S. Bach’s Keyboard Concertos No.5, BWV 1056 & No.4, BWV 1055 with French soloist and Bach specialist, David Fray, and close with Bruckner’s 9th Symphony. Steffens is particularly familiar with Bruckner’s works and is scheduled to perform the same symphony with the Norrköping Symphony Orchestra next month.
Steffens will replace the previously advertised Johannes Fritzsch, who has withdrawn from this concert due to a recent injury. We wish Johannes a speedy recovery.
